NVIDIA CEO pledges not to kill Arm Mali graphics after company merger

Participation of NVIDIA and Arm CEOs in an impromptu conference at the Developers Summit provided an opportunity to hear the positions of the company’s management on further business development following the upcoming merger. Both are confident that it will be approved, and the founder of NVIDIA also claims that he will not ruin the proprietary Arm Mali graphics.

Jensen Huang (Jensen Huang) from the very moment of the official announcement of the deal with Arm did not hide that he intends to distribute NVIDIA graphics solutions to the clients of the British company. At a recent developer event, he expressed confidence that regulators around the world will not interfere with the deal between NVIDIA and Arm once they understand that the companies complement each other and will only act for the benefit of customers.

NVIDIA intends to use the Arm ecosystem to promote its computer vision and visualization technologies, as the founder of the latter explained. He confirmed that the deal will not prevent Arm from developing its own graphics (Mali) and neural (NPU) processor lines, as each of them has its own customers.

Along the way, Jen-Hsun Huang admitted that NVIDIA has been eyeing the Arm ecosystem for several years, and only now realized that it has reached the stage of maturity when it will benefit from integration with solutions and technologies of NVIDIA itself, spreading beyond the segment of mobile devices. High-performance computing, edge computing, cloud computing and autonomous transportation – these are the areas future owners of Arm consider suitable for the expansion of the platforms developed by the British company.

NVIDIA aims to create a single environment in which architectures from both companies can be leveraged. NVIDIA’s proprietary software libraries will adapt to the Arm architecture. Started working with three Arm clients developing processors for server applications – Fujitsu, Ampere and Marvell. NVIDIA is committed to supporting the new unified ecosystem “for life,” as the company’s CEO puts it.
