AMD has tried to avoid confusion between the Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs on Zen 2 and the Vermeer desktop chips based on the new Zen 3 architecture, introducing the latter in the new Ryzen 5000 series. But it seems that in the end, confusion cannot be avoided. According to the latest information, within the Ryzen 5000 series, new mobile solutions will also be released next year, and based on two architectures at once – Zen 2 in the Lucienne series and Zen 3 in the Cezanne series.

Network sources report that AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile processor series will consist of at least six processor models: Ryzen 3 5300U (Zen 2), Ryzen 3 5400U (Zen 3), Ryzen 5 5500U (Zen 2), Ryzen 5 5600U (Zen 3 ), Ryzen 7 5700U (Zen 2) and Ryzen 7 5800U (Zen 3). That is, we are waiting for two four-, six- and eight-core processors.

All Ryzen 5000 mobile chips will retain the same core count as their Ryzen 4000-series predecessors, but at the same time will receive an increase in frequency, both base and Turbo. In addition to the increased frequencies, new products based on the Zen 3 architecture will also be able to offer a 19% increase in IPC performance. The use of new integrated Vega graphics with an increased number of graphics cores running at a higher frequency is also reported. All together will give the new Ryzen 5000 mobile processors a significant performance boost against the backdrop of the already highly productive Ryzen 4000 series solutions that were able to shake the mobile processor market and made Intel tense up.

AMD Ryzen 3 5300U

  • Turbo frequency 3.85 GHz (150 MHz higher than the Ryzen 3 4300U);
  • Graphics: 6 Compute Units (CU) @ 1.5 GHz (1 CU more, 100 MHz faster than the Ryzen 3 4300U)
  • 4 MB L3 cache;
  • Configurable TDP: 10-25W.

AMD Ryzen 3 5400U

  • Zen 3 architecture, codenamed Cezanne;
  • 4 cores / 8 threads;
  • 2.6 GHz base frequency;
  • Turbo frequency 4 GHz;
  • Graphics: 6 CU with a frequency of 1.6 GHz;
  • 8 MB L3 cache;

  • 2.1 GHz base frequency (200 MHz lower than the Ryzen 5 4500U)

AMD is set to officially unveil Ryzen 5000 mobile processors next January, according to the latest data. The new processors are expected to be slightly more expensive than the current generation Ryzen 4000 mobile chips.
