The Russian segment of the ISS was again left without an oxygen production system
In the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), the oxygen production system failed for the third time in a week. According to RIA Novosti, the cosmonauts in orbit reported this to the specialists of the Mission Control Center (MCC).

We are talking about the “Electron-VM” complex, which is installed in the “Zvezda” module. The system is capable of producing oxygen for the breathing of the crew – up to six people. The principle of operation of the installation is reduced to the electrolysis of water with an alkaline electrolyte in a flow-through electrolyzer.
A problem with the Electron-VM system was reported last week. It took the Russian cosmonauts several days to restore the operation of the installation, but soon after that there was a second failure. We also managed to cope with it, but the system did not work for long.
“We received a message about a problem with the pressure, Electron refused,” cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov told MCC specialists.
How long this time it will take to fix the installation is not clear. The station crew has already disassembled the device and is investigating the possible cause of the breakdown.
It should be noted that nothing threatens the ISS crew. There is another oxygen production system in the American segment of the station; in addition, there are oxygen reserves in orbit.
