The DDR5 era starts next year, but mass use will not begin until 2022
TrendForce analysts declare 2021 the official start of the DDR5 era. By the end of the third quarter of 2021, DDR4 memory captured more than 90% of the PC and server markets. But a few more months will pass, and DDR5 memory will begin to actively make its way to the market, although it will enter massively personal computers and servers only in 2022.
Intel previously planned to provide support for DDR5 memory in Tiger Lake-H processors in 2021. But these plans were later scrapped as DDR5 production is in the early stages and is more expensive. Thus, the release of the Intel PC platform with support for DDR5 will take place only in 2022 in the face of Alder Lake generation processors.

Intel rival AMD, which has a 20% share of the PC processor market, will do the same. The first 5nm AMD processors with support for DDR5 will be released only in 2022.
