Destruction and Heist: The Teardown Voxel Sandbox Coming To Steam Early Access October 29
Developer Dennis Gustafsson from independent studio Tuxedo Labs has announced the exact release date of the voxel sandbox Teardown. The game will be available on Steam Early Access next Thursday, October 29.
In Teardown, players must prepare the “perfect heist” by making the “most efficient path” to the goal. To do this, they will have to destroy fragments of walls using vehicles and explosives, build pyramids from objects and be creative in completing tasks. According to the authors, the environment is “completely destructible and truly interactive”, and the main mechanics are “user freedom and emergent gameplay”. Also promised “realistic simulation of physics of objects, debris, transport, water, fire and smoke”.
Teardown is being developed on a proprietary engine using “new destruction technology, physics and voxel-based rendering”. According to Gustafsson, the possibilities of this technology are “endless”, so the creators decided to release the game in early access and collect feedback. The early version contains the first part of the story campaign – this is more than 20 missions with five types of environments, each of which supports sandbox mode. In its current form, Teardown, as the developers assure, is “quite playable and stable”. The full version will have more types of environments, missions, tools and vehicles, as well as challenges and separate levels for the sandbox mode. In addition, there are plans to add a full-fledged level editor for creative mode. The price will be about $ 20 and will not grow anymore.
The project is being developed by two people – Gustafsson and Emil Bengtsson. Five more people help create music and sounds, level design, textures and models.
Teardown will require a fairly modern computer, which is associated with the use of the voxel method and advanced physics simulation. Recommended requirements include an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. The developers note that the game will run on weaker computers, but it will run slower.
