Chinese vehicle successfully landed on the moon to collect soil
The Chinese robotic spacecraft Chang’e-5 has successfully landed on the lunar surface, China Central Television reported, cited by The Verge.
The probe was launched on November 24, the mission will last 23 days. On November 28, the probe entered the lunar orbit and began preparations for descent to the satellite surface. On November 30, the descent vehicle, together with the landing and take-off module, separated from the circumlunar orbital block for the subsequent lunar landing at a given place on the lunar surface.

The task of “Chang’e-5” is to collect and deliver to Earth about two kilograms of lunar regolith. For this, it is equipped with a drilling device and a manipulator with a bucket. In the last 44 years, this is the first time a probe has been sent to collect lunar soil. If all goes well, China could become the third country after the USA and the USSR to accomplish this task.

Takeoff module “Chang’e-5” contains a special container for storing soil samples. After completing the task of collecting the regolith, the Chang’e-5 scientific module will load containers with material inside the take-off module, after which the latter will rise from the lunar surface and dock with the orbital block. Next, the container with the cargo will move to the return vehicle, which will go back to Earth.
It is reported that the landing of the Chinese vehicle “Chang’e-5” on Earth is scheduled for December 16-17 in the area of Khoshun Siziwan in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
